About

Two prop artisans on the National Tour of Phantom of the Opera found the Phantom’s mechanical monkey malfunctioned more than desired. They hatched a plan to elevate the discipline of theatrical props by designing beautifully crafted objects with consideration for the rigorous performances they need to endure 8 shows a week. Now Bad Monkey Props has contributed to 7 Broadway shows and counting, from one-off prop pieces to full oversight of prop production.

As a company, Bad Monkey Props is committed to doing our part to make the entertainment industry a more equitable, inclusive, just, and anti-racist place to work. We support working with and hiring individuals whose backgrounds are underrepresented in the entertainment industry, including race, ethnicity, class, gender identity or expression, ability, and sexual orientation. We also firmly believe in a living wage and pay transparency. At Bad Monkey Props all artisans are compensated above industry standards and at a minimum of 30$/hour for all positions. As a Brooklyn NY based company we hope to provide the means for our employees to maintain happy and healthy lifestyle habits.
